It's high time for a new article about the best games to play stoned. After an article about the three (all-time) best games and the three best first-person shooters, this time we’re going to talk about the three best roleplaying games to play stoned.
Why roleplaying games rule when you're high
Roleplaying games are often games with a lot of depth and they offer you the opportunity to develop your character in various ways. Moreover, the worlds in which you play offer a lot of freedom, both in discovering areas and opponents and in the choices you make in the game. Choices that regularly have important consequences for the course of the game.
This makes roleplaying games ideal to play stoned because you can totally dive into them. And once you've finished playing the game, you just start again with a new character and a different playing style, so it's certainly not boring to play the game again.

Fallout
Fallout, you say? Yes! But which version? I’ve played Fallout 2 the most, but it’s very old. I also had a lot of fun with Fallout 3 and 4. I like them all. The dystopian science-fiction setting in a half-devastated world contributes a lot to the fun. How wonderful it is to discover the surrounding area and to find fancy weapons and equipment by chance. Could you be so lucky because you’re stoned?
The storyline is also very good in most versions of Fallout. The interaction with other characters, the action, everything weaves together seamlessly. Of course, you can follow the storyline and try to play the game as fast as possible. But if you’re stoned, it often comes down to wandering about aimlessly until you encounter something interesting.
And sometimes it happens that the opponents you encounter are far beyond your level. If you manage to disable them in one way or another: wonderful, you probably have super good items now and became unbeatable. But sometimes you wander a little too far and you end up dead on the floor within seconds.
Diablo II
Another game with multiple versions. However, for me, there’s clearly one winner. That’s Diablo II. It may be that I am just very nostalgic. I also played Diablo III, but this game didn’t give me as much pleasure as the previous one.
What's so great about Diablo when you're stoned? Simple. You hardly have to think and are constantly in the middle of the action. It’s a hack 'n' slash game after all. If you're heavenly baked, it will be a breeze to gain lots of levels.
One of the nicest things is finding awesome items. Especially when you’re stoned, you hope that you’ll find something tremendous all the time. You can hardly wait to identify your items. And then there are the bosses. It’s amazing to kill them when you’re stoned. Or they kill you because you're just too stoned and overconfident ...
Skyrim
Who wouldn’t enjoy fighting dragons, stoned? And don’t forget, this game was out before Game of Thrones became a hit (at least the popular TV series). Skyrim is basically very similar to Fallout 3 but in a fantasy instead of science-fiction setting. Not surprising, of course, because both games come from Bethesda Softworks.
The game offers a lot of freedom, you can develop your character as you see fit and you can explore all kinds of areas. Often in beautiful environments that appeal to your imagination. Wandering around a bit and doing some random stuff is often enough when you're stoned!
Of course, the story is also amazing and the quests that you can do are well put together. Surprises can occur around every corner, so even if you’re really stoned, you’ll sometimes sit on the edge of your seat. And that may take some time because the world is very large and diverse. Guaranteed hundreds of hours of fun.
