All these decades of smoking have resulted in some true classic strains you will find on any menu. To honour the coffee shop we asked our weed specialists for a list of ten coffee shop strains which have stood the test of time. 1. Skunk #1 (Sensi Seeds)

Breeders regard Skunk #1 as the benchmark of uniform, reliable performance and her rock-solid genotype has influenced a hundred modern hybrids. During the 1990s it was so popular that it threatened to completely dominate the coffee shop scene. The potency of this branch of the cannabis family tree is so notorious that 'skunk' is often used as a general term for all powerful weed. Once smelled it can never be forgotten.

2. Jack Herer (Green House)

The Jack Herer plant is a famous strain that was created by crossing Haze with Northern Light and Shiva Skunk. Users describe the effects as blissful, clear and creative. Named after the cannabis activist Jack Herer this powerful plant became a bestseller, winning a record number of Cannabis prizes along the way.

3. Original White Widow (Paradise Seeds)

Green House came up with a cross between a Brazilian sativa landrace and a South Indian indica. It later was the subject of many experiments by seed banks like Paradise Seeds. The white crystal buds inspired the name which graced all coffee shop menus during the 1990s and beyond. A powerful plant with multi-layered effects.

4. Power Plant (Dutch Passion)

Power Plant was developed by Dutch Passion in the late 1990s. The name says it all: not one for the faint-hearted, although its happy and creative high is loved by many.

5. Northern Lights (Vision Seeds)

Northern Lights may have been developed in the Northwest but it became a coffee shop sensation in 1985 thanks to its dreamy and relaxing effects. It still is an easy to grow plant and inspired some famous hybrids like Shiva Skunk and Super Silver Haze.

6. Shoreline (Devil’s Harvest)

The original version of Shoreline made a name for itself during Grateful Dead concerts in the 1970s. Big old-school skunk which has been traveling around the globe since the 1980s. A true stinker that is famed for its heavy, psychedelic effects. A proud parent with an untold number of children.

7. Tangie (DNA Genetics)

A true Amsterdam strain which is famed for its refreshing tangerine aroma and euphoric effects. This remake of the legendary Tangerine Dream became a hit in its hometown after which Tangie conquered the world.

8. Blue Cheese (Barney’s Farm)

Cheese is a skunk hybrid which invaded Amsterdam from the U.K. It eventually got crossed with Blueberry which resulted in a savory experience, unlike any other strain. A comforting smoke that remains a favourite of stoners into strong flavours.

9. Bubble Gum (Serious Seeds)

Bubble Gum is another visitor who stayed in Amsterdam. Originally from Indiana, it was finally stabilized in the 1990s seducing many with its characteristics sweet smell and euphoric high.

10. White Choco (Amsterdam Genetics

The New Kid on the Block. A runaway success thanks to its delicious chocolate taste. White Choco became a favourite at its home base Boerenjongens after which it conquered the Dutch coffee shop scene.
