A growing number of scientists dedicate research to the use of psychoactive substances. At Azarius we have been always interested in this type of scientific research, especially if the user is put centre stage. The Bonger Institute for Criminology at the University of Amsterdam coordinates an ambitious project studying the use of these new substances:
"We examine several aspects of NPS-use in six European countries. With NPS we mean all forms of new psychoactive substances. NPS are also referred to as "designer drugs" or "legal highs". A well-known example of NPS is 4-FMP. NPS imitate the effect of traditional drugs such as cocaine, ecstasy, amphetamines and weed or hash. There are several groups of NPS, for example stimulating, calming or psychedelic substances. NPS can also have the form of synthetic cannabinoids, amphetamines, opiates and other chemical substances. They are used for all kinds of applications, from soporific to party drug.
