Sunday June 17th in Amsterdam: Cannabis Liberation day!

15-06-2012

Update: the festival is over but we took a few photo's for our Facebook album

On Sunday June 17th, the fourth edition of Cannabis Liberation day is held in Amsterdam. It’s the biggest cannabis culture festival in the Netherlands. Entrance is free.

Why go?

2012 is a crucial year for the survival of the Dutch coffeeshops, the most visible part of our world famous cannabis culture. On Cannabis Liberation day we send a clear signal to all political parties: down with the ‘weed pass’ and the tourist ban for coffeeshops. It’s time for full regulation / legalization of cannabis. The more people turn up, the clearer the signal will be.

What’s on?

Apart from a full program with bands, speakers and DJ’s on the main stage, there is a hemp market, a Cannabis Film festival in Europe’s biggest Ger (traditional Mongolian tent), “pop up performances” by theatre students from Utrecht and a Ganja Dancehall hosted by the fabulous King Shiloh Sound System. And of course a small Azarius delegation will be there as well!

How do I get there?

The event takes place on the grounds of ‘Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek’ in Amsterdam’s Westerpark. Take bus 21 from central station and get out at Van Hallstraat. Or take tram 10 from the city centre and get out at Limburg van Stirumplein.
