Mushbag grass seed

This Mushbag contains sterilized grass seed that is suitable for the spawn production of some edible mushroom species. It's fitted with an air filter and rubber injection port that seals the bag hermetically after injection with liquid inoculant (a syringe containing spores or mycelium). Each mushbag contains approximately 1200 grams of grass seed.

Especially the truffles from the Psilocybe Mexicana A grow very well on grass seed.

Cubensis species don't grow so well on grass seed. If you would like to grow cubensis we advice to use a rye based substrate like the Musbag rye.

Note: The Mushbag does not contain a syringe or spores. To get these, make a selection from our spore prints and syringes.

Usage

1) Clean the injection port

Desinfect your hands or wear sterile gloves. Use the supplied alcohol swab to desinfect the rubber injection port. Do not touch the port afterwards.

2) Flame the needle

Keep the needle of the syringe (not included) in a flame until it's red hot. Let it cool for 15 seconds.

3) Inject

Insert the needle through the rubber patch and inject the desired amount of liquid inoculant. If the flow is blocked, slowly pull the needle back a bit. Repeat steps 1-3 for every Mushbag.

4) Incubate

Carefully squeeze the bag to distribute the inoculant. Put it in a warm, dark place. Make sure the filter is separate from the back of the bag.

Once the mycelium starts growing, the bag will inflate a little. Shaking the bag now will speed up growth. The white filter is the most fragile part of the Mushbag, so be careful not to damage it when shaking.

Once all grass seed kernels are colonized by mycelium, the spawn is ready for use.

Important: If the Mushbag gets contaminated it cannot be saved. Never open a contaminated Mushbag.
