Growing Your Own Herb

We're still in the middle of winter, but the days are becoming longer again, and it won't be long before we can start growing cannabis outside. The growing of cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands, but the possession of up to 5 plants is tolerated by the Justice Department. Many pot smokers grow plants as a hobby, of which even a harvest of less than five plants provides months of enjoyment. Although the cultivation of top quality weed requires quite an investment and a lot of know-how, even an amateur with a balcony or garden with ordinary soil can grow an abundance of flavourful, THC-rich buds.

Of course there are several things which can go wrong. For example, the plants may suffer from bugs, mold, root rot, malnutrition or overnutrition. It is highly advisable to first read a good book on the basic principles of cannabis cultivation. On our website you can find several books and DVD's on indoor and outdoor growing.

Because a few of your plants are likely to die or be of the male gender, it is advisable to germinate more seeds than you eventually intend to grow. If you end up with more female plants than you had planned for, you can give them to your friends as a gift, for which they'll probably be very grateful.

Once you have determined where and how you would like to start growing your plants, you can make a choice between the many types of seeds which are available these days. Azarius carries a very broad assortment of seeds, all of the highest quality, but each with unique characteristics as far as THC-percentage or growing conditions are concerned.

This year Azarius has carefully selected five strains, the Azarius Seeds: the Big Bud, K2, Shiva, AK48 and the Power Plant.

Of these the Shiva is especially vigorous and pest resistant, making it an excellent choice for the less experienced grower. Shiva has an exotic flavour and has a high percentage of THC, between 15 and 20%. It yields about 400 to 500 grams per square meter, which can be harvested in late September or early October.
