Catha edulis (khat)








Better known as khat or qat, this is an evergreen tree which grows at high altitudes extending from East to Southern Africa, as well as Afghanistan, Yemen and Madagascar. Its main substance is cathinone. In Africa many people chew fresh leaves to make life a little more pleasant, also it is used in different ceremonies such as weddings. The active compound disapears after 48 hours, but dried khat still has stimulating qualities: it contains tanine, thiamine, niacine, riboflavine and caroteen, as well as iron and aminoacids.
Effects
Khat is a stimulant, the effects are rather like ephedra or amphetamine and include euphoria, increased alertness and excitement, ability to concentrate, confidence, friendliness, contentment and flow of ideas.
Usage
Dried khat can be drunk as tea. Khat tea is also known as 'bushman tea'.
The only dosage we know of regards fresh leaves, people used to take a mouthful and chewed the leaves until the effects started.
Warning
With regular khat use there can be a tendency of querulousness with lability of mood and increases in anxiety and tension. Unwanted effects associated with khat are sleeplessness, nervousness. Regular consumption of Khat can cause a moderate psychic dependence, but no physical dependence or tolerance.

Take app. 2 spoonful for each Person, add lemon juice (acid helps the extraction) and boil in water for maybe 10 Minutes. Let it cool ----> ready for drinking!!!
Highly stimulating!!!
Variation of dosage, acidity and boiling time may enhance the effects.”
