Azarius vs. Bufo Alvarius

bufo alvarius

Many of us have heard about it, but most probably never done it. But unlike getting high from smoking banana peels, ingesting the juices produced within the body of a psycho active toad is not an urban legend. In the US some people seriously consider keeping a toad at home as their own private consistent entheogen source.

The facts

• We are talking about the Bufo alvarius species.
• Its habitat is the Colorado River, USA.
• This toad has glands on the side of its back that produce bufotenine, an entheogen.
• On YouTube Krystle Cole of Neurosoup explains how you can “milk” the toad.
• However, the psychoactive substance will only be released when the animal finds itself stressed out or upset.
• The substance is then dried and smoked.
• Toad licking is just a rumour, a very persistent rumour.
• Just like DMT bufotenine happens to be a compound that is also produced by our own bodies. Under influence of a MAO inhibitor, small amounts are produced.
• Still, in the US the substance was banned because of its hallucinogenic properties.
• Police have already arrested someone for keeping a Bufo alvarius as a ‘utility pet’ or, in their words, drug paraphernalia.

Soon at Azarius?

Azarius does NOT sell alive, sentient beings, so no need to look for toads at our website. We’ve contacted one that does actually ship poor little Bufos, and inquired about the shipping conditions. They responded that the toad would certainly still be alive at its arrival. Oh great.

Bufotenine is also in cebil, yopo and chaliponga leaves. To explore the combination of bufotenine and 5-MeO-DMT (in TIKHAL listed as the most interesting among all known bufotenine combis) you can try Spirit Elixer 2, 4 and 5.

Alex Shulgin, the author of TIKHAL, is still in doubt whether bufotenine alone is an active psychedelic drug.
